Wes Thomas
Lead Technician Wesley Thomas (Wes to most people that know him) 'came home' to Harbro in October 1996. He has previously worked for Harbro from 1983-1989...the first job in his chosen career after attending a 10 month Auto Mechanics course at ITT Technical Institute in Chelsea, MA. Between stints at Harbro he worked as a Mobile Repair Unit Operator for U-Haul and as an automotive technician for 3 other repair facilities. He grew up on Cape Cod, graduating from Barnstable High School in 1982. Wes is an ASE Certified Master Automotive Technician (CMAT) and also has the L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification. He is a sponsoring member of the International Automotive Technician Network (iATN), the largest web-based network for professional auto techs in the world, with over 75,000 members representing 158 countries. He works second-shift at Harbro which minimizes his contribution to the daytime mayhem. He often deals with the more complex challenges presented by the modern electronics-laden automobile as well as much of the labor-intensive repairs and long-term projects. Wes lives in Oxford with his wife of 23 years and the three children that he hasn't yet figured out how to marry off. His oldest daughter wed in November 2011 and lives with her husband. In his spare time he enjoys Facebook (mostly playing games), reading forums in the iATN and performing as little yard work as the wife will allow. He also enjoys Nascar, reading, photography, talk radio, classic rock and blues music, not necessarily in that order. Wes truly enjoys working on cars and the emotional high that follows the successful resolution of a mind-boggling (or knuckle-busting) problem and can't see himself ever pursuing a different career.
